REIKI

Reiki is a unique system of energy healing, a concept founded by a Japanese doctor, Mikao Usui, in the early 20th Century. Rei - Universal Ki - Life Energy. In yoga a similar energy is used although it is called Prana (Sanskrit).

Reiki is non invasive, with either a light touch or hands slightly above the body, to balance the body's energy flow through its' natural energy centres (known as Chakras). It is a complimentary therapy, widely recognised for its benefits in managing mental and emotional health helping in the relieve of stress, anxiety, grief and depression, and physical conditions including fibromyalgia, back pain, fatigue, low energy, inflammatory disorders and more.

I have an extensive medical history myself including childhood bone cancer, arthritis, cardiomyopathy, to more recent emergency surgeries to my bowel, stoma surgery, a brain bleed, a kidney tumour and a TIA (mini stroke). I have benefitted from Reiki personally, both when I had a frozen shoulder from emotional pain of grief and more recently now that I have long term chronic health issues. I know how effective it can be and want to pass my passion for Reiki to others.

Reiki can also be given as distance healing. This is just as effective as hands-on and often it is a more intense experience. It can be a wonderful gift to yourself if you can't or don't wish to travel, or to a friend or family member. Some prefer to have this experience in their own home, and I have known clients to either fall asleep at the end of the treatment or leap up and clean their home with their new found energy. Each individual is different and experiences Reiki in their own way.

HELPFUL INFORMATION
What you might need to know before a Reiki treatment. If you need to know anything else, feel free to ask
  • What do I wear?
Wear loose clothing so that you are comfortable and no chunky jewellery which may be distracting. If you are chilly, you will be offered a blanket. You only need remove your shoes. I would prefer you wear some socks/stockings during a treatment.
  • I have a medical condition. Is this okay?
You will be asked to complete a health questionnaire at your initial treatment session. We can discuss anything you are concerned about at this time or prior to the treatment booking.
  • What to bring?
Yourself, some socks and any questions or concerns, which can be discussed before a treatment. There is no talking during a treatment except for some simple instructions at the start and finish.
  • How will I feel during a Reiki treatment?
You may feel warm or cold, there may be vibration, a feeling of floating or sinking as you relax more deeply, or if you are a visual person you may see colours. You may also feel sleepy - you may fall asleep and this is okay. It is also okay if you feel none of these. The treatment will promote feelings of peace and calm.
  • How will I feel after a treatment?
You will feel calm and either sleepy or energised. You are also likely to be dehydrated and drinking water for a few hours afterwards is essential. You will be offered water before leaving the treatment room.
